3 Tricks to Make Your Small Bathroom Seem Larger

Small Bathroom PIctureWe spend a lot of time in our bathrooms. Unfortunately, bathrooms aren’t always the most spacious rooms in the home.

So what can you do to make your bathroom seem bigger? Lucky for you, Precision Glass has a few tricks up our sleeves when it comes to making the most of your bathroom space.

Here are three ways to add some pow to your powder room.

Install Frameless Shower Doors

Small Bathroom with Frameless Shower Doors PicIf your bathroom has a tub or shower, one of the simplest tricks to add more visual space is to replace the shower doors or curtain with frameless glass shower doors.

Frameless shower doors are made from heavy glass, which means it’s sturdy enough that it doesn’t require a frame to keep it from wobbling.

The absence of a metal frame really opens up the space visually. Heavy glass also requires no track. Simple clips and channels make them functional without all the clunky hardware.

An added benefit to frameless glass doors is that they add a sleek and upscale feel to your bathroom.

Add Mirrors

Small Bathroom with Mirrors PicAnother designer trick to making a small space seem larger is to add mirrors. If you have a small mirror on the wall, consider replacing it with a larger mirror or even a full wall mirror behind the vanity.

Mirrors work magic visually by giving the illusion that the space is much larger than it seems. Even though the room isn’t actually any larger than before, it is perceived as being much more spacious to the eye.

At Precision Glass, we have dozens of mirrors to choose from to make your bathroom feel spacious.

Use Light Colored Paint

If you’re battling a small space, try to use light colors on the walls and even in your decor to create the illusion of an open and airy space.

See How a Lake Lotawana Couple Made the Most of a Small Shower

Lake Lotawana Shower PicWhen a Lake Lotawana couple decided it was time to bring their bathroom up to date, they turned to Precision Glass for their glass shower door.

They wanted a more modern, upscale look. One of the challenges they faced was the fact that their bathroom was not as spacious as they would like, but they didn’t have the room in their floorplan to enlarge it.

That meant that the visual illusion of space would have to be created by the design of the room and the elements incorporated.

A Triangular-Shaped Shower Created More Space

Because the shower is the first thing you see when you enter the bathroom, it sets the tone for the entire space. That’s why they chose to have beautiful tile work installed in the shower enclosure.

It helped to create an upscale feel immediately. The triangular shape of the shower created more room than a smaller square shape, while still allowing the door to open without feeling cramped.

Frameless Glass Shower Doors Accentuated the New Tile

When it came to the glass selection for the shower enclosure, we suggested 3/8” clear frameless glass for a couple of reasons. First, any kind of opaque or patterned glass would have hidden the detail in the shower, deemphasizing the beautiful tile work.

Secondly, choosing a heavy glass shower door (3/8” – ½” thick) allowed us to use less of a frame to support it. Because heavy glass doors are thicker and stronger, they flex less and, therefore, require less frame to hold them in place. Instead of a frame surrounding the entire door, we are able minimize the hardware to clips, channels and handles.

When you minimize the amount of frame, the look is not only sleeker and more upscale, but it also shows off the shower even more. So by using the 3/8” clear frameless glass doors, they made the maximum use of space, emphasized the custom tile and made a small space seem larger.
